Having problems with your Flat Panel Televisions ?

I am having problems with my Phillips HTS3410d home theater system, for looking around the internet I am fairly positive the problem is with an electrolytic capacitor. But all the solutions say it is an easy quick fix and that you should be able to see the bad capacitor. if you could point me in the right direction as to where to look for the bad part.

Answers :

Hi, the signs of a bad capacitor are usually signs of it being a bit swollen on the top end, it will be silver colored ( opposite of the two metal leads coming out) also sometimes it will have pushed a rubber seal down around the metal leads towards the circuit board. Some times there may be " brown " discoloration around ANY overheated/faulty parts on circuit board. I hope this was of some help, Prodzilla

I can see a faint image with a flashlight and there are no apparent burns on the the board that powers the LCD lights. My question is: If you see the faint screen , as in your fix, should I test the bosrd output as well? Also, I went to inventgeeks.com, he was fixing a monitor is it as easy as he should us? Mom's got a new TV, bought her a toshiba LCD with Visa so I've double here warranty but I hate
